Panicky KRA Boss now seeks Cheap PR as top manager dies of Coronavirus

Panicky and helpless KRA Boss James Githii Mburu who recently claimed of character assassination by blogger Cyprian Nyakundi has sought the services of an unregistered Public Relations firm to clear a ‘mess’ after one senior manager allegedly succumbed to Coronavirus. It is said, the KRA’s Commissioner-General does not want any linkage of coronavirus to Times Towers and other KRA offices across the country.

What is so unique if one dies of Coronavirus that KRA Boss is struggling to hide? Is it because they fear arrest of defying the government directive of self-quarantine if one comes from outside the country? My friend, death is inevitable.

But even if Mr Mburu chose to conceal the reasons behind the death of his top manager, Antony Njoroge Gichia, a domestic Taxes staff,  it required science not cheap PR by little known and unregistered PR firms such as the black-hat PR agency. PR ethics does not allow them to engage in what can easily be termed as slander. It’s unethical.

Reports has it that Antony Njoroge Gichia allegedly arrived in the country from an official function in Italy a few weeks before he succumbed to the said disease.

His death which the Kenya Revenue Authority Deputy HR Commissioner described in a memo as “short illness” is linked to Covid-19 virus.

A letter done by Christine N. Maangi, a HR -Southern Region reads;

“Dear Colleagues – Southern Region

We are saddened to report to death of our dear Anthony Njoroge Gichia, Manager DTD, Southern Region. He passed away yesterday 2nd April 2020 at 8.00 pm at the Nairobi Hospital. His body is currently lying at the Lee Funeral Home.

Many of you will remember Anthony for his dedication and passion in his work, and especially in advancing the Regional CPC issues, a task he handled very well as the Secretary of the Southern Region Corruption Prevention Committee. He was also the Leader of the KRA Catholic Small Christian Community (St. Matthew) in Southern Region.

He will be buried tomorrow 4th April 2020 at Juja Farm. In case of further information – the Family Spokesperson – Mr. Ndungu, is available on Mobile 07…

We shall communicating further as soon as we get more information. Please keep his family in your prayers.

Eternal Rest grant unto your servant Anthony O Lord, may Your perpetual light shine on him. May he rest in eternal peace. Amen.

Kind regards

Christine N.
Southern Region”

As indicated in the above memo, the late Antony was buried in less than 48 hours by health officials dealing with coronavirus.

Instead of the mainstream media covering the events that followed like in the case of KQ pilot Captain Daudi Kibati who was laid to rest on Saturday, they gave Antony’s burial a wide berth.

It’s reported that KRA offices were fumigated after the incidence and more than 20 officials of the agency are in quarantine as the Commissioners General spends sleepless nights to control what appears on the media about his sick ship.

It’s shameful that instead of KRA Boss working on a way of saving tens of hundreds offering “essential services” at KRA offices by allowing some of them to work from home, ensuring the social distance is effected, providing enough hand sanitizers,  he is busy following bloggers. At this point in time, why would the likes of attachees and interns be allowed to congest KRA offices?

Many KRA staffers have complained about the management allowing people to crowd at the towers yet there’s a Government directive against that.

Bosses that traveled had considered themselves too important to self-quarantine for the required 14 days.

It is now clear that Mr Mburu can run but will never hide forever, threats and hiring cheap PR firms will not stop the truth from getting to the people. Using authorities to gag bloggers and ask for huge bails is only making them stronger.

The KRA Bosses should do the right thing and they’ll have easiest time in office. If government says self-quarantine, what stops them from doing so?
