Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has created a new Sub-County named Kirima in Laikipia to enhance security and service delivery.
The new administrative sub-county is to bring government and security agencies closer to Sipili and Ng’arua.
It comes with a sub-county police commander, who will enhance faster response from security agencies.
The CS is in Laikipia to review ongoing police defense against bandits who have terrorized residents in the region.
Further, schools and homes have been torched and hundreds of families have been left homeless.
Melgwete Primary school in the troubled County was on September 8 set on fire by suspected bandits.
This was barely a day after CS Matiangi declared a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Laikipia’s Nature Conservancy.
As well as its environs.
Some politicians have been linked to the recent attacks believed to be funding the culprits.
As of now, two politicians, Tiaty MP William Kamket and Former Laikipia North Member of Parliament Mathew Lempurkel have been arrested.
Additionally, the military is offering air support in the operation with several government agencies involved in the exercise.
Matiangi says they are determined to solve the crisis that recurs every election time once and for and told local leadership to support operations.
