“Maybe he knew his time had come” Senator Osotsi says Raila had a premonition before his death

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has shared that the late Raila Amollo Odinga was full of excitement and optimism about the upcoming 20th anniversary of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

In a recent interview, Osotsi, who also serves as the ODM Deputy Party Leader, said Raila had been deeply involved in the planning and discussions leading to the celebration and had expressed great anticipation for the event.

He noted that Raila saw the milestone as a moment to reflect on the party’s long journey, its resilience, and its role in shaping Kenya’s democratic landscape.

Osotsi recalled how Raila spoke with passion about marking the party’s achievements and using the anniversary to strengthen unity among members.

He mentioned that Raila’s involvement was not symbolic but practical, as he had contributed ideas on how the three-day celebration would unfold.

According to Osotsi, the late leader was keen on ensuring the celebrations would highlight the sacrifices made by those who stood with ODM through years of political turbulence.

The senator reflected on what he described as a striking coincidence between Raila’s plans and the events that followed his death.

He explained that Raila had wanted the ODM anniversary to last three days, and, in a symbolic twist, he was later laid to rest within the same 72-hour period after his passing. Osotsi described this as a moment that carried both irony and deep meaning, suggesting that Raila might have sensed his final days approaching.

Osotsi went on to describe Raila as a leader who never lost hope in the vision of a united and prosperous Kenya.

Despite his age and long political journey, he remained deeply engaged in national matters and maintained faith in ODM’s ability to continue shaping the country’s politics.

The senator added that Raila’s leadership style, marked by patience, inclusivity, and resilience, left an indelible mark on those who worked closely with him.

During their final private conversation, Osotsi said Raila spoke about the need for the party to focus on unity and expansion.

“In my private meeting with Raila Odinga, he said the ODM Party must remain strong, bring in more people, and have a strategy to gather all and scatter none,” Osotsi revealed.

He said this message summed up Raila’s lifelong commitment to inclusion and his belief that true political strength lies in togetherness rather than division.

Osotsi concluded that ODM’s 20th anniversary would not only celebrate its history but also serve as a reflection of Raila’s enduring spirit and vision.

He emphasized that even in his absence, the late leader’s guidance continues to inspire the party to remain steadfast in its values and mission.

To many within ODM, the anniversary now carries a deeper meaning a tribute to a man who gave his all to the ideals of democracy, unity, and justice in Kenya.
