The death of Albert Ojwang has taken a dramatic turn following a chilling statement made by President William Ruto’s Senior Advisor on Constitutional Affairs, Professor Makau Mutua.
In a post shared on his official X account, Prof. Mutua declared that someone will be held accountable for Ojwang’s death. His message has triggered widespread concern and drawn national attention to a case already surrounded by suspicion and unanswered questions.
Albert Ojwang, known for his role as a former youth mobilizer and his bold criticism of select government officials, was found dead last week in Kisumu under unclear circumstances.
Police were quick to label the incident a suicide, but inconsistencies in the autopsy findings and witness accounts have raised eyebrows.
What was initially viewed as an unfortunate tragedy is now being treated as a possible cover-up, especially after Mutua’s comments.
Prof. Mutua posted that “someone will be held accountable” and emphasized that the truth must come out, no matter how high up it goes.
He added that this case would not be swept under the rug and that justice must be done. His post, which spread quickly across social media, has caused many to question whether the government has been hiding details and whether there are powerful individuals involved in Ojwang’s death.
Though Mutua did not mention names or reveal new evidence, those close to the matter believe the post signals that something serious is going on behind closed doors.
Civil rights activists have now stepped up their demands, calling for an independent investigation. Some groups are citing Ojwang’s final online posts, which appeared to express fear for his life.
In one post, Ojwang mentioned being followed and threatened after he exposed what he described as “dangerous corruption” involving people close to power.
Despite the public pressure, President Ruto has remained silent on the issue. However, insiders from State House say that Mutua’s post was not random it reflects unease within the highest levels of government.
The silence from Ruto is now being interpreted by many as either unwillingness to speak or a sign that something bigger is at play.
With Prof. Mutua’s message, the focus has shifted. What was initially seen as just another mysterious death has become a national demand for answers.
People are no longer just mourning Albert Ojwang, they are asking who wanted him gone and why.
