Former Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has come out to blame his sacking on five United Democratic Alliance (UDA) lawmakers from Kisii County.
According to Machogu, these MPs plotted his removal after he refused to give them tenders linked to a Sh1.9 billion school construction project funded by Kuwait in Nyamira.
Speaking during a public event in Nyaribari Masaba, Machogu pointed fingers at MPs Joash Nyamoko, Sylvanus Osoro, Alpha Miruka, Japheth Nyakundi, and Zaheer Chandah, accusing them of being the main force behind his dismissal.
He claimed that these politicians lobbied President William Ruto to sack him and even went ahead to propose who should replace him. Machogu believes that his decision to reject corrupt dealings is what angered the group and led to his downfall in government.
He said had he accepted the tender requests, he might have ended up in jail due to the corruption involved. The former CS stated that the same group of MPs had previously fought former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and are now against his own plans to run for the presidency in 2027.

As reported by People Daily on page 7, Machogu expressed deep disappointment with the leaders, accusing them of using the Kisii community for selfish interests.
He claimed they do not have the ability to lead and have failed to represent the people who elected them. In his view, these MPs are more focused on personal gain than community development.
He told the public that the leaders were part of a wider problem facing the Kisii region, where politics is used as a tool to enrich individuals at the expense of the common mwananchi.
Machogu also expressed regret for supporting President Ruto during the last general election. He said the President has failed to fulfil promises he made to the people of Kisii, especially in terms of development.
According to him, the people were misled with false hopes and empty pledges, only to be forgotten after elections. He called on Kisii residents to stop supporting corrupt leaders and instead prepare to rally behind a credible candidate from the region who can run for president in 2027.
His remarks come at a time when frustration with the government is growing, especially following the 2024 Gen Z protests that highlighted the public’s dissatisfaction with corruption, unemployment, and lack of accountability.
Machogu’s public attack against the Kisii MPs and the President paints a picture of deep political betrayal and growing rifts within UDA, particularly in Kisii County. Whether his words will spark change or further isolate him remains to be seen, but one thing is clear, he has chosen to speak out against what he sees as corruption and betrayal at the highest levels.
