Who is Lou Gossett, Jr.?

Lou Gossett, Jr. is a renowned African-American actor best remembered for his outstanding performance as Drill Sergeant (Sergeant Major) Emil Foley in the 1982 movie “An Officer and a Gentleman,” for which Gossett won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar at the 1983 Academy Awards. Many will remember how Jamie Foxx did a superb and memorable portrayal of Ray Charles in the 2004 movie “Ray.” Same with Lou Gossett, Jr. and his outstanding portrayal of a Navy Drill Sergeant/Navy Sergeant Major in the 1982 movie “An Officer and a Gentleman.”
