In a letter dated July 17, 2019, Sala and Mudany Company Advocates wrote to the OCS of Kisumu Central Police Station demanding the police to arrest Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo saying he assaulted Maurice Oduor on June 4 2019 at his place of work behind Awori House in Kisumu but efforts to arrest him has proven futile.
On June 4 2019, Maurice accused Mr Elisha of assaulting him at his place of work following a post he made on social media indicating that EACC had summoned Odhiambo over alleged graft in National Government Constituency Development Funds.
The demand letter was written following allegations that Gem MP Mr Elisha Odhiambo had allegedly bribed some top police boss thus making the junior police officers not taking serious actions against the MP over the matter.
“Our client made a report of assault against the said Elisha Ochieng Odhiambo at your police station on June 4 2019 vide OB Number 70/04/06/2019. Since then, one and half months down the line, no action has been taken to arrest the said offender and bring him to book,” the demand letter read in part.
“This is to kindly request your office to ensure the arrest as per the report, and hand him over to the nearest court of law forthwith, so as to enable the issue take its lawful and necessary course,” reads the other part.
254News learnt that the letter was copied to Kisumu county police commander, county Criminal Investigating Officer, District Criminal Investigating Officer, Independent Policing Oversight Authority and Commission on Administration of Justice.
The MP is said to have stopped his constituency visits fearing a possible arrest anytime.
