Khalif Kairo in the dock again for another Ksh. 3M undelivered car deal

Joseph Kairu Wambui, popularly known as Khalif Kairo, a well-known second-hand vehicle dealer, found himself in court once again on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, facing serious allegations of fraud, this is according to the post shared on X by Nyakundi.

This time, the case involves a sum of Ksh 3,045,000, which he is accused of obtaining under false pretenses.

Kairo, who operates under his company Kai and Karo Limited, was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

The case revolves around an incident that took place between October 5 and October 7, 2024, at Westlands Business Park in Nairobi County.

According to the charges, Kairo allegedly deceived Dan Odhiambo Odundo by falsely claiming that he could import a Volkswagen Tiguan 1.4 line from Japan.

Odundo, trusting Kairo’s promises, paid the substantial amount of money, only to later realize that he had been misled.

The complainant alleges that Kairo never intended to deliver the vehicle and that the entire transaction was a scam.

Kairo was arrested on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, and brought to court the following day. During the court proceedings, he denied the allegations, insisting that he had not misrepresented his ability to import the vehicle and that the complainant had not been deceived.

However, the prosecution is prepared to present witnesses, including Simon Otieno Odhiambo, Albert Hesbon Odundo, and police officer Wako Jarso, to testify against Kairo and support the claims of fraud.

This is not the first time Kairo has been involved in such controversies.

Over the years, his name has been linked to several shady business dealings, raising questions about his credibility as a vehicle dealer.

Despite his repeated denials and attempts to clear his name, the growing number of complaints against him suggests a pattern of dishonest behavior.

Many of his clients have come forward with similar stories, accusing him of taking their money without delivering the promised vehicles or providing substandard cars that do not match the descriptions he provided.

Kairo remains in custody, awaiting the court’s decision on his bond terms. The outcome of this trial could have significant implications for his business and reputation, especially if the court finds him guilty.

For now, the public is watching closely, as this case sheds light on the darker side of the second-hand vehicle trade and serves as a reminder to always exercise caution when dealing with high-value transactions.

Whether Kairo is innocent or guilty, this latest case adds another chapter to his controversial career and raises important questions about accountability in the business world.
