(Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula)
Bungoma senator, Moses Wetang’ula, the Ford Kenya party leader has been having a rough time lately. Things got nasty when a section of Ford Kenya members decided to sideline him as the party leader. Wetangula took the matter to court and just when it seemed like there was a glimmer of hope by news spreading that the court had reaffirmed him as the bonafide Ford Kenya party leader, the judiciary took to social media to clarify the reaffirmation claims.
All this sparked after Wetangula was reluctant to associate himself with the handshake team headed by president Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga. A section of Luhya leaders headed by COTU chair Francis Atwoli held a meeting dubbed ‘Luhya Unity’ and called upon Wetangula and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, what followed was a meeting chaired by Wafula Wamunyinyi to discuss the leadership of Ford Kenya
Kenyans now took to social media to give out their opinions on the current drama in Ford Kenya. A section of Kenyans have termed senator Wetangula as a weak leader stating that the party deserved strong leadership thus he should step down. The section of Kenyans termed him as a greedy leader after associating himself with the tanga tanga team, this is after pictures were shared of the senator together with Deputy President, William Ruto. Wetangula has been accused of not being a firm leader after he had threatened to kick out former Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale some time ago for siding with the tangatanga team and now doing the opposite by boarding the same ship he had reprimanded Khalwale for. Others felt that the luhya leadership should lie upon Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya for strengthening luhya unity.
