Kenya applauds Harambee Stars with Sh42 million boost following CHAN success

The Ministry of Sports has given out Sh42 million as a reward to the Harambee Stars players and technical bench after their 1-0 win over the Democratic Republic of Congo in the opening match of CHAN 2024.

This reward is meant to recognize their impressive performance and dedication. The money was shared among 27 players and 15 members of the technical bench, as stated by the ministry.

Each player is believed to have received more than Sh1 million, with the rest of the money going to the coaches and support staff.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvuria said that the reward was not just about the money but also about acknowledging the hard work, discipline, and national pride that the players showed.

He added that the ministry had promised to support the team, and they were now fulfilling that promise.

The victory by the Harambee Stars brought joy to many Kenyans, with fans all over the country praising the team for their tactical discipline and fighting spirit.

The match was played in a packed stadium in Algiers, where Kenya scored a beautiful goal in the second half that secured the win.

Since the CHAN tournament only allows players from domestic leagues, Kenya’s win was even more meaningful as it showed the strength of local talent.

The success of the team has given hope to many young players in the country who dream of representing Kenya at the international level.

Football Kenya Federation President said the government’s support would inspire the players to perform better in future games. He pointed out that such encouragement boosts the players’ morale and shows that their efforts are not going unnoticed.

The Harambee Stars are now getting ready for their next group stage match, with the aim of progressing further in the tournament and building on their strong start.

This move by the Sports Ministry shows a new level of seriousness in how Kenya is treating sports. It sends a clear message that excellent performance will be rewarded and that the government is ready to support athletes who bring pride to the country.

It also raises expectations for future support not just for football but for other sports as well. The Harambee Stars now carry the hopes of the nation as they continue their journey in CHAN 2024.
