Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka revealed on Saturday afternoon that he had written to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, urging him to fully execute the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) findings.
During a wedding ceremony in Limuru, Kiambu County, Kalonzo voiced concern that Odinga’s recent agreement with President William Ruto could have a negative impact on the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
According to the Azimio principal, while the shortlisting of candidates for IEBC posts was complete, the process of picking commissioners needed to be transparent and fair.
“We are waiting for the opportune time, the panel selecting the commissioners must nominate people evenly,” Kalonzo said.
“When we were deliberating on the NADCO report with Kikuyu MP, I called for consultation and concurrence.”
“I thought Raila would be on my side throughout, but now I have written to him because we must put things straight so that we cannot have confusion,” he added.
The Wiper Party leader argued that Kenya’s worldwide reputation has deteriorated since the Head of State assumed office in 2022.
Addressing the audience, Kalonzo criticized President Ruto’s leadership style, accusing him of failing to address crucial issues impacting Kenyans.
“As a country, we have reached a level where nobody, particularly those in leadership, does not know where Kenya is headed.
But for us, we are a loyal people’s opposition,” Kalonzo declared.Kalonzo also urged the government to comply with court rulings and give evidence that the two Adani transactions were cancelled as per President Ruto’s directive.
According to the Azimio leader, the court lawsuit contesting the government’s contract with the Indian conglomerate was still pending because the administration had not followed the court directives.
“We went to court to challenge the government’s deal with Adani, and we won the case, but the matter is yet to end because the government has declined to bring documents showing that the deal was terminated,” Kalonzo noted.
