June Ruto, daughter to deputy President William Ruto and the charge D’Affaires of Kenya to Poland, has earned herself a Nigerian Sweetheart.
The weekend was not like any other as Mr. William Ruto relegated his Deputy President position to receive his Nigerian in-laws.
The delegation that was led by Former Minister of Aviation in Nigeria, Benjamin Osita Chidoka, came fully prepared for any eventuality.
“I was the negotiator at the bride price settlement ceremony. We haggled, we negotiated and at the end we agreed on how many cows would be a fair price for the hands of June.” Osita said
“I regaled them with Igbo customs, proverbs and mores. They are looking forward to visiting Ani Igbo to eat roasted yam and red oil. They also want to see Umuaro and Umuofia as described by Chinua Achebe. Well I told them that visiting Obosi and Alex’s village Uli will suffice…” He added
Mr Ruto is said to have “kept the event small and simple and family focused.”
“His position as Deputy President was relegated as he played the role of a father. Hon. Ruto and wife were great hosts.” Mr Osita revealed.
It is said that the Kalenjin people of Kenya are pastoral people and have so much in common with the Igbos of Nigeria.
June’s sweetheart Dr Alexander Ezenagu is a Qatar based lecturer who teaches Business Associations, Construction and Infrastructure Development Law, Global Economic Law and Governance, Entrepreneurship Law, Global Legal Ethics and Law of Taxation.
He is currently an assistant professor in the College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Qatar.
In November 2020 during the dowry negotiation and payment for Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, Mr. Ruto had challenged his daughter June and Mr Dennis Itumbi to also consider settling down.
“Now that we have finished with our friends Sam and Susan, there is this boy called Dennis Itumbi. We also have June. They(the two) are our next candidates, and they are good people. So we are ready to come back for more suitors here in Laikipia in future,” he said.
It’s however not clear when the dowry and wedding of Ms June Ruto will take place.
