Joshua Arap Sang has been appointed as Mediamax’ deputy head of Radio in an acting capacity after immediate Radio CEO Ms Joyce Gaturo clashed with mediamax chief executive officer over roadshow money, also what she termed as interference with radio programming and planning. It’s said the management over the recent past resolved to cut down financing publicity campaigns that has been hugely drawing their audiences,

“If you want to grow audience, you must spend, but the management is not very keen on this,” she said

It is said that efforts by radio managers to expand audience have been frustrated further by frequency hitches that frequently cut off listeners in some parts of the country. The hitches are notorious in some parts of Nairobi and Western Kenya.

Ms Gaturo brought in great changes and boost of revenue to the station with Milele fm increasing it’s revenue from Sh4 million per month to over Sh16 million every month in less than a year.

There seems to be a serious management gap in mediamax going by the mass resignation letters in the past one month that began with the exit of former CEO Ian Fernandes mid June this year.

Joshua who was hired after nine years in the cold by the mediamax’ Kalenjin radio station Emoo in June, will continue on his acting capacity to man the company’s six radio stations till a replacement is made.
