Nairobi senator is a man in trouble. His recent court appearance, breaking of curfew rules and the president publicly admonishing his conduct has put in an unfamiliar territory as he has been the state blue eyed boy, being spared in the Jubilee squabbles after leading a spirited effort in defending the president as the tensions in ruling party intensify.
Senator Sakaja through his twitter handle now claims that the police car is trailing him without any current case or dispute as Senators case was heard and was determined. The motive of the trailing begs more question as this is unlikely scenario as Sakaja has been a loyal ally of state and its head. The question is, has Sakaja fallen out with the president or members of his inner circle thereby being treated with disdain and outsider as is the case now.
The recent flop of the Division of Revenue bill in the floor f senate which Senator actively campaigned and voted against in contrary to the wishes of the Majority whip in the senate and by extension the president could have escalated the tensions and effectively marked Sakaja as the rebel and landed him bad books with the state.
The senator has not only lost a favor from the state but also has put him in corner with the opposition members and some of the TangaTanga luminaries like Kipchumba Murkomen who has since fallen out and vigorously oppose some of the state policies and criticize its moves through twitter and rallies.
Social media on the other hand has been ablaze since the senator was arrested for improper conduct, breaking curfew rules and threatening the police as some users the senators actions were catalyst to the presidents recent ban on sale of alcohol, other users asking for his resignation while in recent scenario trending the hashtag #ShameonSakaja.
Therefore, as the Senator’s woes deepen, the puzzle remain if the senator is being thrown under the bus as the state has done before to its fierce defenders like Hon Duale and Hon Murkomen as the succession politics hots up.
“@IG_NPS kindly advise your 6 officers who have been trailing me the whole afternoon in white Isuzu KBZ 317X to have some more tact” reads the tweet from the senator in what appears to be allaying his fears and making the public know of his predicaments. The senator further hints on the reason why they could be trailing him as the recent fights in the CRA proposal on the appropriate formula in which the senator voted against his party coalition whims.
“If they want presentation on the formula that unites Kenya, give them my number” the senator tweeted.
