ICEA LION Appoints Philip Lopokoiyit New CEO

  ICEA LION General Insurance Company Limited board has appointed Mr. Philip Lopokoiyit as the new Chief Executive Officer and Principal Officer of the company effective 20th September 2021 following regulatory approval.

The appointment follows the resignation of Mr. Paul Muthaura in line with medical advice to recover following an accident early in the year.

 However, the board has expressed gratitude for the contribution he made during his tenure.

Paul has been instrumental in providing excellent leadership during the COVID-19 disruption ensuring business continuity and development of relevant innovations to ensure business success. The board wishes him a quick and full recovery.

Lopokoiyit has over 20 years of experience in commercial and financial leadership.

Nonetheless, he is a seasoned commercial and market transformation expert with executive and non-executive board member experience.

 Additionally, the board said it is confident in the adaptability, growth, and change management competencies he will bring to the business noting his diverse regional and country executive leadership positions.

Lopokoiyit has recently executed key strategy execution and business delivery leadership in companies as diverse as Flamingo Horticulture Kenya and British American Tobacco.

In addition, Philip has carried responsibilities as a Non-executive Director in various NCBA and NIC Group entities around Kenya and Uganda.

 As well as the Board of CIC Asset Management.

Lopokoiyit holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Warwick Business School, United Kingdom.

 And a Bachelors of Commerce and Accounting from the University of Nairobi.

He has also attended various leadership and Corporate governance programs in institutions such as Havard Business School and the Non-Executive Directors Association UK and the Centre for Corporate Governance.
