A theft incident was reported on Friday at Wiyu Plaza along Galana Road in Nairobi, where CCTV footage allegedly captured a man entering an office on the seventh floor and leaving with two laptops, according to reports circulating online.
A video shared on social media appears to show the suspect walking through office corridors inside the building before entering one of the offices.
The footage then allegedly captures the man picking up two laptops and exiting the premises moments later. Reports indicate the incident occurred during working hours, although the exact time of the alleged theft had not been officially confirmed by authorities by the time of publication.
According to individuals familiar with the matter, the victims are appealing to members of the public to help identify the man seen in the CCTV footage. Sources said the affected office later discovered the laptops missing after reviewing surveillance recordings from inside the building.
The victims reportedly shared screenshots and clips from the CCTV system online in an effort to trace the suspect. However, no official police statement confirming arrests or recovery of the stolen items had been released at the time of publication.
A video circulating online shows the man moving calmly through the office area before leaving with the devices. The footage does not indicate whether the suspect had authorised access to the building or whether security personnel were alerted during the incident.
Independent verification of the suspect’s identity was not immediately available.
The victims have urged anyone who may recognise the individual captured in the footage or who may have information about the alleged theft to report to the nearest police station or contact them directly.
Incidents involving theft of electronic devices from office buildings have been reported in Nairobi in recent years, with businesses increasingly relying on CCTV systems and digital surveillance to assist investigations.
Authorities have previously encouraged members of the public to share credible information with investigators instead of confronting suspects directly.
