Odinga’s visit to Eldoret is part of his Azimio la Umoja push that seeks to unite Kenyans from all walks of life, ahead of the 2022 general elections.

The former Prime Minister’s meeting started with a meeting with ODM delegates from the county of Uasin Gishu and Nandi before he went to address the city residents.

During the meeting, the ODM leader was crowned a Nandi elder and given the greenlight to seek the presidency.

This is the first of a series of planned visits by Mr. Odinga to the region perceived to be Deputy President William Ruto’s stronghold.

“Unity in diversity is our strength as a nation. If we unite, then we can realize our objectives,” Odinga told the gathering at Eldoret town.
