The third test run of the Green Park terminal is set for Friday 18th June from 5.00 am to 9.00 am in readiness for its commissioning.
In an announcement by the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS)the exercise will be conducted by Public Service Vehicles (PSV’s) using Langata Road, Ngong Road, .
Argwings Kodhek Road to Kikuyu , Ngong’, Kawangware, Dagoreti, Kibera, High Rise and Ngumo.
As well as Rongai, Kierian, Langata, Otiende, Madaraka and Nairobi West.
Furthermore , Machakos and Kitengela bound PSVs operating from the Nairobi Railway Station Bus terminus will use Lusaka Road from Nyayo Stadium roundabout.
All the way to Hakati Bus Terminus where Langata and Nairobi West/ Madaraka vehicles operate from.
Initially, NMS announced the test run to be conducted on Wednesday June 16th 2021
In a statement by NMS Director General Major Mohammed Badi, the exercise was postponed to June 18th .
To ensure the information reaches all the PSV’s and commuters.said Badi.
In April, NMS carried out the first test run.
This is to assess the possibility of implementing the gradual removal of PSVs from the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) to the new terminal.
Nevertheless, bus park is intended to be the new terminal for PSV’s that have been operating around the Nairobi central railway station.
However, upon completion of the test, drop off and pick up by PSV’s will continue as usual until further notice.
NMS is developing bus termini as part of decongesting Nairobi’s CBD and improving commuter experience in the city.
Consequently , the development process is in the transition phase of commissioning the terminus.
Currently, all stakeholders are assessing their level of preparedness for commissioning the facilities.
