Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohamed Amin has sent a strong warning to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his recent remarks concerning national security.
In a firm statement, Amin made it clear that Gachagua should not interfere with sensitive matters involving law enforcement and national safety.
He stressed that such issues are serious and must only be handled by trained security experts, not political figures seeking attention or pushing personal interests.
The warning comes after Gachagua made public comments on matters related to national security, which Amin described as reckless and dangerous. According to the DCI boss, such statements could put ongoing investigations at risk and create unnecessary fear and confusion among Kenyans.
He reminded political leaders to act responsibly and avoid making remarks that could mislead the public or destabilize the country.

Amin emphasized that national security concerns millions of lives and cannot be treated lightly. He said that investigations and crime prevention are delicate tasks that require silence, patience, and professional handling.
Any interference, especially from influential figures, undermines the trust that citizens have in the country’s security institutions.
The DCI chief pointed out that when politicians involve themselves in operations they do not understand, it disrupts the work of security officers and can even compromise important missions.
He advised that all leaders, whether in office or retired, must respect the boundaries of their roles. Security matters, he said, are not political tools but the foundation of a stable country. Amin assured the public that his office is fully committed to maintaining law and order without favor or pressure from any quarter.
He called on Kenyans to support security agencies by providing information that can help prevent crime and protect communities.
Amin also highlighted the importance of unity and cautioned against leaders who make divisive comments for personal gain. He warned that anyone who tries to obstruct justice will be dealt with according to the law, regardless of their former titles or influence.
The DCI boss reminded the country that respect for institutions like the police and intelligence services is key to ensuring peace and public confidence.
His warning to Gachagua has triggered a mix of reactions from the public. While some people defended Gachagua’s right to speak on issues affecting the nation, many others supported Amin’s position, saying that politics should never mix with security operations.
There was general agreement, however, that matters of national safety should be treated with care, professionalism, and respect for the rule of law.
Amin’s strong message has set a clear tone that no one is above the law. His firm stance reminds both leaders and citizens that peace and security are responsibilities that must be guarded at all costs.
