Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made serious allegations about corruption at the highest levels of government. During the launch of the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) on February 27, 2025, he claimed that two containers full of cash are being used to bribe political leaders.
According to Gachagua, one of the containers is at President William Ruto’s State House residence, while the other is at Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s Karen home.
He alleged that these funds are being used to influence politicians and buy their loyalty.Gachagua, now a strong critic of the government, pointed to a Ksh76 billion discrepancy in the national budget as part of the scheme.
He alleged that the container at Kindiki’s residence is a 40-foot structure filled with Kenyan currency, while the one at State House holds dollars.
The former deputy president suggested that these funds are being used to manipulate leaders and silence opposition voices.
He also claimed that leaders who visit Kindiki’s home are being given Ksh5,000 each just to attend meetings. He accused the government of using these bribes to maintain political control, stating that many leaders have now realized the game and only attend to collect the money.

This, according to him, shows that the government’s influence is weakening, as people no longer believe the promises made during these meetings.
Gachagua’s claims go beyond domestic bribery. He alleged that the large dollar reserves in State House are linked to gold smuggling from Sudan.
According to him, proceeds from illegal gold trade are being used to fund political activities in Kenya. If these allegations are true, they could have serious consequences for Kenya’s international relations.
Sudan has faced instability, and illegal gold trade has been linked to financing conflicts in the region.
Gachagua suggested that Kenya’s leadership might be involved in these dealings, raising questions about how deep the corruption runs.
Despite the seriousness of these claims, the government has not yet responded. There has been no official denial or explanation regarding the alleged cash containers or the budget discrepancy.
If true, these allegations would expose one of the biggest corruption scandals in Kenya’s history.Gachagua’s statements have added more pressure on an already struggling administration.
If the claims gain traction, there could be calls for investigations and accountability. However, without concrete evidence, the government may choose to ignore them.
The coming days will determine whether these allegations lead to real action or are dismissed as political propaganda.
