Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has received another boost from the Party of National Unity (PNU).
The PNU Party, which led Former President Mwai Kibaki to the State House in 2007, has joined hands with Odinga’s ODM to ensure that he wins the 2022 presidential race.
The PNU national council tasked to look for a suitable leader to support in the State House race chose Odinga as the most preferred candidate to protect their interests in the coming administration.
“We only need your support as members to grow together. I believe we will achieve our goal and support our candidate who is Raila Odinga. We are moving on together, and Raila believes that this is a party that has worked with him,” said David Kamai, PNU national Chairman.
According to Kamai, the decision was informed by the fact that Odinga once worked with Kibaki during the Grand Coalition Government formed in 2008.
Laikipia Governor Nderitu Muriithi said PNU has great agricultural ideas that would enhance Vision 2030, and that Odinga was the best candidate to help achieve the goal.
“We are poised to make a significant contribution in increasing real income by supporting the productivity of farmers and our businesses.
“We have the know-how, interest and we want to join the like-minded parties in the republic so that we can do that together,” Muriithi said.
The Party’s support comes at the time when Odinga is gaining significant political mileage in the Mt. Kenya region, with the majority of his supporters being from the region’s business community.
