“Police in Makueni are complicit in the attempted murder of Lawyer Onesmus Masaku by Policewoman Nancy Nyeri.

“The two are known lovers and Njeri attempted to kill him after he refused to accede to her demands for marriage. Nancy Njeri should be arrested and charged,” read a statement from Havi.

The female police officer chopped off a lawyer’s hand after he allegedly attempted to rape her on Wednesday in Wote, Makueni county.

It was reported that the lawyer had invited the female officer to his house so he could introduce her to his girlfriend.

The plot, however, turned out to be fabricated just to lure the female officer to his house. A struggle was said to have ensued after the lawyer allegedly attempted to rape the officer.

The lawyer was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, Nairobi, for treatment after the incident.

The female police officer was also said to have suffered injuries during the melee and was rushed to Makueni Referral Hospital but was later discharged.

According to a police report, the incident left the lawyer in a serious condition and had to be rushed to Nairobi for specialised treatment.

The incident attracted backlash from the public with some calling for action to be taken against police officers who have overstayed in the town.

“Wote Makueni county Station has officers who have overstayed service. An incident yesterday of a female officer who cut a lawyer’s arm is the town talk,” said Eembuta Ulakituu.
