A total of 12 individuals have been shortlisted for the job of CEO of the Social Health Authority (SHA).
The people were selected from a large list of 92 applicants who expressed interest in the position following Elijah Wachira’s suspension last November. In his place, Robert Ingasira was appointed in an acting capacity.
The authority announced the position on February 27, with a submission deadline of March 20, 2025.Mercy Mwangangi, the former Health Chief Administrative Secretary, and Ingasira are among the 12 important persons on the list.
Others include Kennedy Akello, Robert Abok, Serem Edward, Wario Tore, Agrippina Fernandes, Abdullahi Abdirahman, Musa Lwegado, Samson Kairang’a, Dinah Kirwa, and Kandie Ng’ochoch.
The interviews are scheduled for April 7 and 8 at SHA headquarters.
“Applicants should report to the venue 30 minutes before the scheduled time,” reads the notice issued by SHA CEO Abdi Mohamed.
Kenyans have also been urged to submit any information provided to any of the candidates before the interviews.
“Members of the public are invited to avail any adverse information relating to any of the shortlisted applicants to the Chairperson, Social Health Authority Board, SHA Building, 10th Floor, Nairobi, or through email to [email protected] so as to be received on or before 4th April 2025 at 5.00 pm,” it states.
Candidates must provide their authentic National Identity cards, academic and professional credentials, and transcripts.
They must also present valid clearances from the Higher Education Loans Board, the Kenya Revenue Authority, a registered Credit Reference Bureau, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Police Clearance), and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
They should also include a properly stamped Self-Declaration Form or an acknowledgment from EACC.
Those having degrees from overseas universities must provide a recognition letter from the Commission for University Education.
Additionally, applicants should present recommendation letters or certifications of good standing from appropriate professional bodies and groups, as applicable.
SHA is a governmental organization that manages public health insurance with the goal of making healthcare more accessible, inexpensive, and of high quality for all citizens and qualified inhabitants.
On November 22, 2023, the Social Health Insurance Act, 2023, was passed, and it replaced the 58-year-old National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). It began operations on October 1, 2024.
