Former nominated senator Gloria Orwoba has made serious claims that thousands of people from Kisii and Nyamira counties are being promised Ksh100,000 each to attend an event at State House on Friday, August 15.
Speaking during a TV interview, Orwoba said mobilizers have been reaching out to residents directly with the cash offer, creating questions about the motive behind such large-scale mobilization.
She alleged that between 5,000 and 8,000 people have been targeted with the promise of the huge payment if they attend the event.
According to her, this is part of a bigger plan to influence political loyalty through money rather than genuine support.
Orwoba explained that this kind of pressure on new political leaders often begins very early, sometimes even before they receive their first salaries.
She argued that the political system is designed to trap leaders into loyalty through incentives and offers that tie them to certain interests.
Journalist Dennis Okari, who was also on the show, supported her view, saying such influence starts immediately after elections and is often used to control the political space.
Orwoba went on to reveal that promises of positions in influential parliamentary committees are another tool used to sway lawmakers and keep them aligned with certain political agendas.

The former senator also revisited her own experience in Parliament, where she was suspended after speaking out against corruption.
She pointed out that President William Ruto has recently made public statements about the same issues she raised before, questioning why her voice was silenced at the time.
She suggested that this shows how leaders who speak the truth are often targeted, only for the same concerns to be acknowledged later.
Orwoba further warned that there is more that could come to light, hinting at revelations about serious misconduct within the government.
She claimed that it is only a matter of time before the president admits that his administration is facing the highest number of sexual harassment cases.
This statement added a new layer to the controversy, as it raises concerns about workplace culture and accountability in government offices.
Her remarks have sparked strong reactions online, with some people demanding clear evidence to back up the allegations of cash payments.
Others are calling for independent investigations to verify whether such mobilization is taking place.
Despite the growing public debate, State House and political leaders from Kisii and Nyamira have not issued any response to the allegations, leaving the matter open to speculation and further scrutiny.
