A Nairobi court on Wednesday ordered Former City Hall Chief Finance Officer Jimmy Kiamba to pay the government Sh317 million, monies he could not explain how he obtained while working at City Hall. The court through Justice Hedwig Ong’udi found out that Ex-Nairobi county CFO Jimmy Kiamba stole upto Sh317,648,604 which he deposited to his bank in six ocassions using different people between January and September, 2014. He tried protecting his loot by lying to the court that those deposits were from revenue derived from sale of cattle, farming wheat and maize, a transport and quarry business and sale of some property which he could not exhaustively substantiate.

It’s said EACC got wind of his corrupt deals from the public and sprang to action by investigating his 11 bank accounts in eight banks. They then obtained bank statements for the accounts and compared the amounts deposited and his salary which was paltry Sh85,000. They further discovered heavy inter-account transfers.

According to the evidence by EACC, it was established that he deposited more than Sh400 million between January and November 2014; his driver Joseph Njoroge made total deposits of Sh66.8 million, while former head of treasury at City Hall Stephen Osiro made total deposits of Sh4.1 million the rest he did alone.
