Comedian Eddie Butita who rose to fame from the Churchill Show on Friday, September 18, announced his departure from the NTV’s The Trend.
Taking to his social media, the funny man cum panelist revealed that he was grateful for having been part of the show for the past five years.
He acknowledged the host of the Show Amina Abdi as well as the rest of the panelists on The Trend for their support during his time on TV.
“It has been five years on The Trend. It all started with just one appearance and it became a permanent job.
“I would like to thank Amina Abdi and the panelist team for being more than colleagues. Our time together was worth it. I learned, laughed and changed a lot that I was able to,” he stated.
Butita further explained that his decision to leave was influenced by his desire to give a chance to upcoming talent to get an opportunity to grow and shine in the space.
He also credited the show’s previous host, BBC’s Larry Madowo, who included him on the show’s panel where he used to comment together with media personalities Anita Nderu and Ciru Muriuki.
“Special thanks to NTV for the opportunity. We are still together in this journey. Thank you Larry Madowo for believing in me and giving me the first chance to be on the show, the rest was history,” the comedian added.
The Trend has seen a sweeping number of changes following Larry Madowo’s departure from the show where he became a popular icon, as well as Nation Media Group as a whole.
Currently Amina Abdi takes over the reins of Madowo and has been running the space since 2017.
Butita has performed at Kenya’s most popular shows including Laugh Festival, Churchill Show, Churchill Raw, Night of a Thousand Laughs, Kenya’s Biggest Laughs, The Hot Seat, Kenya Kona Comedy, Crazy Monday Comedy Night, Nescafe Red Sensation Party, 3D Comedy, and Kids Festival.
He is also a content creator and is the CEO of his own company, Stage Presence Media.
