Gold scam business is now the easy target for the learned friends as they are now turning out to be aiding the seemingly lucrative business in Kenya. Joel Kimutai Bosek is the latest lawyer to be accused of working with local dealers to defraud unsuspecting foreigner.

Asano Tatsunori, a Japanese businessman from Tokyo, has accused Joel Kimutai Bosek of aiding the fraud that so him lose a total of sh79.2 million in a fake gold scheme.

Tatsunori and his World Gateway Japan Company Limited had agreed to buy gold from a Kenyan firm known as Customs Cargo Handlers in 2017. The company, through one Solomon Linganga, promised to sell 100 kilogrammes of gold to Tatsonuri.

Mr Tatsunori and World Gateway Japan Company Ltd has since sued lawyer Bosek and is asking the High Court award him $729,980 (Sh72.98 million) in special damages.

According to reports on dailies, the Japanese businessman Tatsunori accused Bosek through his lawyer Ben Nzakyo of colluding with the local gold dealers whom he was also acting for “to defraud him $722,080 (Sh72.08 million) in the fake gold racket.”. Asano Tatsunori is also accusing Bosek for failing to execute the duties of collateral manager for Tatsunori.

Mr Tatsunori claims he paid Mr Bosek Sh5,498,000 in legal fees and Sh67.5 million for the gold through his law firm.

In the evidence availed in court, Tatsunori reveals that in February 2017, a Mr Allan Collins Ilunga alias Collins Abuba Amungwa introduced him to a Kenyan firm known as Customs Cargo Handlers which allegedly dealt with import and export of gold. He ended up losing all the monies to the firm.
