Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has turned his focus on Nairobi County’s Chief Officer for Finance, Asha Abdi, accusing her of draining taxpayers’ money through fraudulent deals that have left the capital struggling.
The MP did not mince his words, calling out what he described as a network of corruption designed to enrich a few people at the expense of millions of residents who rely on county services.
He claimed that Asha has turned her position at City Hall into a personal cash machine, with Nairobians paying the price through poor service delivery.

Babu Owino alleged that under Asha’s watch, questionable payments have been approved while Governor Johnson Sakaja, whom he mockingly referred to as “Wamadimplez,” looks the other way.
He argued that these payments are not tied to any genuine development or projects but instead serve the interests of a well-connected clique. He linked this to the collapse of basic services across the city, pointing to neglected health facilities, uncollected garbage piling up in estates, and stalled road projects.
For him, every coin diverted through corruption translates to Nairobians being denied the services they deserve.
The legislator went further, saying that this is not the first time Asha Abdi’s name has been associated with corruption scandals.
He reminded Kenyans that during her time in Mombasa County, she was also accused of mishandling public resources.
Instead of facing accountability, she was simply moved to Nairobi, where the same practices are now being repeated with even greater consequences.
According to Babu, this shows a worrying trend where individuals accused of looting are recycled into new roles instead of being investigated and prosecuted.
He revealed that he has already submitted evidence of her dealings to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, urging the body to move quickly and prevent further losses.
He argued that Kenyans should not be forced to watch helplessly as their money is siphoned off through schemes that only benefit a small group of insiders.
He insisted that justice must be delivered and that such cases should not be buried under political connections or influence.
Babu Owino stressed that he will continue speaking out because silence would make him an accomplice to the plunder. He challenged Governor Sakaja to explain why Asha Abdi still holds such a powerful position despite the weight of the allegations against her.
For him, protecting someone with such a record is a betrayal of Nairobians who elected leaders to safeguard their resources.
The MP concluded by assuring residents that he will keep fighting for accountability and transparency.
He said that unless firm action is taken against those mismanaging funds, Nairobi risks sinking deeper into a culture of corruption that kills development and leaves ordinary citizens in misery.
For him, Asha Abdi symbolizes the rot that continues to bleed the city dry, and he promised not to relent until answers are provided and action is taken.
