Kenya’s famous tiktoker Azziad Nasenya is now a happy celebrity after she became the only person selected for the American People’s Choice Awards from East Africa.
The People’s Choice Awards is an American awards show that recognizes people in entertainment industry.
The allows fans and general public to vote for their favorite celebrities online then the winner are chosen for the awards.
The show has been held annually since 1975, with the winners originally determined using Gallup Polls until a switch to online voting in 2005.
Reacting to her nomination, the 21-year-old went on her Instagram page and thanked her 1.3 Million followers for supporting her.
“Guys, I am the only Kenyan and the only East African nominated. Thank you for your support,” she said.
She also asked the to keep the support alive until the end.
Nasenya was nominated alongside other celebrities including Youtube and LGBTQ activist Lasizwe Dambuza (South Africa), make-up artist and beauty influencer Mihlali Ndamase (South Africa), TikTok star Witney Ramabulana (South Africa), comedian Madam Boss (Zimbabwe, and self-empowerment advocate The Oddity (Nigeria).
The results of the awards are scheduled for December 7, 2021.
