South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Ms. Angie Motshekga as the Head of State in acting capacity for a day.

Motshekga  is the country’s Minister of Basic Education.

 The appointment has been made in view of the President’s visit today to Lusaka, Zambia, to attend the State Funeral Service for the late President Kenneth Kaunda

said South Africa’s Presidency.

It is following the hospitalization of Deputy President David Mabuza in Russia.

Mabuza was to act as President until his hospitalization.

The announcement was done on Friday, July 2, 2021.
