Agnes Kagure storms Babu Owino’s bedroom, causes earthquake

Agnes Kagure, a Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant, has taken a strong step towards promoting gender equality through her latest initiative.

In a message shared on her official Facebook page, she said, “We achieve more when no gender is left behind.”

Her words reflect a growing concern that development efforts must include both men and women, especially at the grassroots level where most communities continue to face deep social and economic challenges.

She went on to say, “I believe in a Nairobi where our sons and daughters grow up knowing that strength means standing for justice, and uplifting those around them to achieve tangible progress.” This message came shortly after the launch of the #HeForShe Mashinani campaign at the Jacaranda grounds.

The event attracted residents from different parts of Nairobi, showing support for the campaign’s main goal promoting fairness and reducing gender-based violence in local communities.

The campaign, started by Kagure and her team, focuses on the idea that men and boys should also take part in efforts to improve gender equality. By using the word “Mashinani,” which means grassroots, Kagure is showing that the campaign is not meant for high offices and boardrooms but for ordinary people in estates, markets, and villages.

Her belief is that real change begins where the people are. While launching the campaign, she expressed confidence in its potential to make a difference.

“I’m optimistic that the #HeForShe Mashinani campaign launched by my team at the Jacaranda grounds yesterday will be a game-changer in grassroots development, anti-GBV causes and a springboard to better days ahead for all.”

She ended her post with the words, “Inawezekana, Twaweza,” meaning “It is possible, we can,” which speaks to her hopeful outlook.

Some observers have described her move as bold, especially in Embakasi East, where Babu Owino is the sitting Member of Parliament and also believed to be interested in the Nairobi governorship.

Whether intentional or not, launching such a campaign in Embakasi East could be seen as a statement of political readiness ahead of 2027.

Kagure has built her reputation on community work, social inclusion, and support for women and youth. This campaign fits into that pattern, showing her continued interest in addressing everyday challenges faced by Nairobi residents.

The #HeForShe Mashinani campaign adds to her public image as someone who wants to connect with people and push for equality through action, not just words.

From her statements and actions, it’s clear Kagure wants to run a campaign based on real issues affecting families across Nairobi.

Her focus on justice and fairness might become one of the central topics in the race for governor.
