A German national charged in Kenya over theft of Agrochemicals worth sh3.4 million

A German national by the name Alexander Hergen has been charged by Eldoret court over theft of agrochemical farm inputs worth Sh3.4 million.

He was arrested early last week at the airport by officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations as he waited for a flight to his home country.

The detectives say, they have been trailing the Mr Alexander since 2017 when the matter of stealing the farm inputs at Rosendahi farm in Moiben area of Uasin Gishu County where he served as the manager was reported to them. He allegedly went underground to evade arrest only to be caught at the airport.

Alexander denied stealing the farm products that were in his custody and was released today Monday January 20, 2020 on cash bail of sh10 million over lack of enough evidence to warrant his longer stay in detention as was directed by Eldoret Senior Resident Magistrate Richard Odenyo. The case will be heard on 28th January 2020
