Oscar Sudi attends burial of pilot George Were, donates KSh1 million

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi attended the burial of Captain George Were, a pilot who tragically lost his life in a plane crash along with five others, including Johanna Ngeno.

The ceremony was a somber gathering, bringing together family, community leaders, and residents to honor the victims and stand with their grieving families.

During the event, Sudi made a donation of one million shillings to Captain Were’s family, explaining that this was meant to provide some support as they navigate the difficult days ahead after such a sudden loss.

He spoke of Captain Were as a dedicated and skilled pilot whose professionalism left a mark, highlighting that the nation had lost committed individuals in this tragedy.

Sudi urged Kenyans to rally behind the families affected, offering solidarity in their time of mourning.

Though the main focus was on remembrance, Sudi’s address took a political turn at times. He criticized opposition leaders for what he saw as an emphasis on fault-finding rather than contributing to the country’s progress.

At one point, he repeated the slogan “Tutam,” which drew cheers from some supporters present. Despite this, the tone of the event stayed largely centered on paying tribute to the victims.

Friends and relatives remembered Captain Were as a hardworking professional deeply passionate about his career and devoted to his family.

Those gathered offered their final respects and prayers, hoping to provide comfort and strength to those left behind.
