President urges fans to keep supporting Pamoja CHAN after Stars’ brave fight

Football often brings with it moments of great pride and heartbreak, and Kenya’s Harambee Stars found themselves in the middle of both at the ongoing Pamoja African Nations Championship.

After a strong run in the tournament that lifted the hopes of many fans, the team was eliminated in the quarter-finals following a tense penalty shootout against Madagascar.

The loss was painful, but the spirit displayed by the players throughout the competition left an impression not only on supporters but also on the country’s leadership.

President William Ruto was among the first to share words of encouragement after the exit. He praised the Harambee Stars for their performance, describing it as remarkable and a true reflection of the strength and determination of the nation.

In his message, he emphasized that the team had silenced doubters and inspired a sense of unity across the country.

He reminded Kenyans that even though the team did not advance beyond the quarter-finals, losing on penalties was not a sign of weakness but rather proof of how far the squad has come.

To him, taking the game all the way to penalties showed bravery, effort, and growth, qualities that deserve recognition and pride.

The President’s words went beyond the result of the match. He congratulated Madagascar on their win while at the same time urging Kenyans to continue embracing the tournament. Kenya remains a co-host of the championship, and Ruto encouraged fans to keep attending games at Kasarani Stadium and to maintain the energy and passion that has been felt throughout the competition.

He called on supporters to fill the stadium with joy and pride, showing love not just for the Harambee Stars but for football as a whole.

His message was clear: while Kenya’s journey in this edition of the tournament had ended, the country’s role in celebrating and supporting the event must continue.

Looking toward the future, Ruto reminded the Harambee Stars and Kenyans in general that this was only the beginning of a bigger journey.

He pointed out that the lessons from this competition will be valuable as the national team prepares for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which Kenya will also be co-hosting.

His words carried optimism, declaring that Kenya would rise and triumph in future tournaments.

The Harambee Stars may have bowed out after a 4-3 penalty loss to Madagascar at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, but the pride they brought to the nation remains intact.

For many fans, this was not just about defeat but about seeing their team fight with courage until the very end.

The tournament has left a mark on Kenya’s football journey, one that could inspire even greater success in the years ahead.
