Isiolo county in crisis as Senate uncovers massive hiring scandal under governor Guyo

Scandal is brewing for Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo as questions continue to rise over the number of people hired into his government. The Senate County Public Accounts Committee has uncovered shocking details showing that Guyo has kept 36 advisors in office, far beyond the legal limit.

According to Kenyan law, each county is only allowed to have four advisors. This discovery has exposed a serious misuse of public money in a county that is already struggling with limited resources.

The committee, led by Senator Moses Kajwang, summoned Governor Guyo to explain the irregular hiring. When asked why the number was so high, Guyo defended himself by saying only four of the people were official advisors.

He claimed the rest were not actually his advisors but instead worked under the Isiolo Public Service Board. However, members of the committee did not believe this explanation.

They insisted that the hiring was not only illegal but also wasteful and dishonest.Governor Guyo’s problems did not stop there. It also came out that he hired two Deputy County Secretaries even though the law only allows one.

This again shows that he ignored rules and continued to fill positions without following the right procedures. As a result, more taxpayer money is being used to pay unnecessary salaries and benefits.

Another shocking detail from the committee’s findings is that Isiolo County currently has 31 Chief Officers, when the law only allows 18. This means there are 13 extra officers on the county payroll.

The cost of paying all these people adds up to millions of shillings, which could have been used for development, healthcare, or water projects that the people of Isiolo urgently need.

During the Senate hearing, the mood became tense as Governor Guyo and Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo clashed openly as emotions ran high.

The argument between the two leaders showed just how serious the matter is. Both were firm in their positions, but the committee made it clear that the hiring crisis in Isiolo must be addressed.

The Senate now wants Governor Guyo to personally return the money that was spent on these illegal hires. They believe this is the only way to send a clear message to other governors who might try to break the law.

They also want Isiolo County to correct the situation immediately and reduce its staff numbers to what the law allows. This case highlights how important it is for county leaders to respect the law and protect public money.
