On Saturday, December 14, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka led a crowd of Kenyans in chanting against President William Ruto, sparking protests inside the stadium.
While visiting Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s football tournament in Machakos, Kalonzo led the crowd to chant the “Ruto Must Go” slogan.
The slogan was loudly chanted behind Kalonzo across the stadium, with residents raising their hands in rejection while screaming it.
Governor Wavinya Ndeti, who was also present, joined Kalonzo in the stadium, where they chanted alongside the citizens.“Ruto must go! Ruto must go! “Ruto Must Go!” Kalonzo and the whole stadium erupted.
The Wiper leader expressed his opposition to the Kenya Kwanza government, emphasizing that the president must return home.
According to Kalonzo, Ruto has implemented punitive measures that are oppressing Kenyans.
Kalonzo took use of the chance to encourage young people to apply for national identification cards and register to vote in order to defeat Ruto in the future.
“Let the Gen Z youths be issued with IDs in January, and also register for voting so that we can vote against the president,” Kalonzo stated.
Kalonzo also used the opportunity to reaffirm his opposition to President Ruto’s current initiative to vaccinate 22 million cattle, 55 million sheep, and goats throughout the country.
In a sly jab at the president, Kalonzo asked Ruto to focus on empowering youth, particularly in sports, ahead of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), rather than vaccinating cattle.
“We have noted that the Kenya Kwanza government has an evil agenda, especially with the vaccination of our livestock,” the leader continued.
“We have witnessed that everything this government does is aimed at suppressing Kenyans, this can’t be different.”
Kalonzo has consistently rejected the government’s drive to vaccinate livestock.
The campaign aims to vaccinate 22 million cattle against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and 50 million sheep and goats against Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) throughout the country.
Kalonzo praised Governor Ndeti for organizing the tournament’s second edition and urged the country to follow in her footsteps, especially as it prepares to co-host the African Cup of Nations in 2027.
