University student found guilty of brutal murder of 15 year old girl in Naivasha

Fredrick Mwonjoria has been found guilty of killing 15-year-old Valerian Njeri in Naivasha. The High Court, led by Lady Justice Grace Nzioka, ruled that the evidence against him was strong and proved beyond doubt that he was responsible for the crime.

The case has shocked many due to the brutality involved and the circumstances under which the murder happened.

The court was told that in 2019, when Mwonjoria was only 17 years old, he lured Njeri into his house in Mirera Estate, Naivasha. Once inside, he attacked her with a knife, stabbing her 12 times. Justice Nzioka said the nature of the attack showed clear anger and an intent to kill.

The number of stab wounds proved that the murder was not accidental or done in self-defense but was a deliberate act of violence.

What made the case even more disturbing was what happened after the killing. Instead of panicking or trying to seek help, Mwonjoria calmly hid the body in his room and went about his normal activities.

He even sat down to have a meal with his family as if nothing had happened. Later, under the cover of darkness, he dumped Njeri’s body outside his house, hoping to avoid suspicion.

However, investigators quickly uncovered the truth. Bloodstains found in his room and on his clothes matched Njeri’s blood, making it impossible for him to deny his involvement.

The prosecution also argued that he had no logical explanation for how he ended up covered in blood.

Justice Nzioka did not hold back in her ruling. She described the crime as brutal and said Mwonjoria acted with clear malice. His actions before, during, and after the murder showed he knew exactly what he was doing.

The court rejected any claims that the killing was accidental, emphasizing that the multiple stab wounds were enough proof of his intentions.

Mwonjoria’s lawyer, Benjamin Bogonko, pleaded for leniency, arguing that his client was now a university student and about to present his project proposal.

The severity of his punishment will be determined on that day, but many expect a harsh sentence given the brutality of the crime.

This case has sparked debate about how the law should handle minors who commit serious crimes. Some believe young offenders deserve a chance at rehabilitation, while others argue that brutal crimes like this require tough punishment regardless of age. Justice Nzioka’s final decision on sentencing will set an important precedent for similar cases in the future.
