Kairo’s broken promises: More customers expose car dealer for using deposits to fund personal ventures

The reputation of embattled car dealer Khalif Kairo continues to be exposed as more disgruntled clients come forward to share their experiences of unmet promises, delayed deliveries, and financial losses.

Kairo, once a prominent name in the vehicle dealership business, is now facing mounting accusations that could tarnish his credibility for good.

One recent complaint highlights the plight of a customer who sought to purchase a car after an accident in August 2023.

By early September, the customer identified a vehicle and paid a hefty deposit of Ksh 2.5 million, with an agreement to settle the balance upon delivery within 45 days.

However, doubts began to surface in October when rumors emerged that Kairo had failed to deliver a Ksh 25 million Range Rover to another client.

Despite these concerns, Kairo assured the customer that the vehicle was on its way, even presenting proof of payment to suppliers in Japan.

He promised the car would be shipped by the end of the week.

While the car eventually boarded a ship, it only arrived at the port on December 21, far beyond the expected delivery date.

The client, who had remained patient, was shocked to discover that Kairo had failed to settle payments with his Japanese suppliers.

This oversight led to threats of auctioning the vehicles to recover debts, leaving the customer in limbo and without the car he had paid for.

The case has since moved to court, adding another layer of controversy to Kairo’s embattled operations.

This incident is not isolated. Numerous customers have reported similar grievances, with delays stretching for months and little to no communication from Kairo.

Many accuse him of using client deposits to fund personal ventures or cover financial gaps, leaving buyers stranded.

Online forums are now awash with stories of frustration, including claims that Kairo focuses more on seeking sympathy and blaming competitors than addressing the complaints.

One commenter expressed outrage at the support Kairo is receiving online, stating, “When I see people telling him he will overcome, it just pisses me off.

What about the rest of the guys who paid deposits and have not received their cars for the last six months?”

As these stories pile up, Kairo’s credibility is under serious threat.

While he claims that competitors are orchestrating these accusations to tarnish his image, the sheer number of complaints paints a troubling picture.

Many clients are left questioning whether Kairo’s business practices were ever above board or if this pattern of failure was always lurking beneath the surface.

The fallout from these allegations could have long-term repercussions, not only for Kairo but also for the broader car dealership industry, where trust and reliability are paramount.

For now, the court will determine the outcome of the ongoing cases, but Kairo’s reputation may already be beyond repair.
