Another Nairobi car dealership is facing criticism for failing to honour sale agreements, leaving customers frustrated and questioning the integrity of such businesses.
A recent case involving Motor Consult, a dealership located in Ridgeways along Kiambu Road, has come to light, highlighting the challenges faced by unsuspecting buyers.
In October 2023, a customer purchased a Ford Ranger Double Cab from Motor Consult, paying the full amount in cash.
The dealership, owned by Titus Muthaka, assured the buyer that the vehicle transfer and delivery of the logbook would be completed within two weeks.
However, as of January 2025, the customer is yet to receive the logbook or any updates on the transfer process.
The buyer, expressing deep disappointment, revealed shocking details about the transaction.
It emerged that Motor Consult was acting as an agent for another dealer, Double-X, which was the actual owner of the vehicle.
Despite receiving full payment, Motor Consult failed to forward the money to Double-X, causing the primary dealer to withhold the vehicle transfer.
This situation has left the customer stranded, despite meeting all their financial obligations.
The customer’s frustration is evident in their public statement, which serves as both a warning and an appeal for justice.
They questioned why Motor Consult would accept full payment without fulfilling its after-sales responsibilities.
The lack of communication and transparency from the dealership has further added to the buyer’s distress.
This case is a stark reminder of the risks associated with some car dealerships in Nairobi.
Many buyers trust these businesses with their hard-earned money, only to face unprofessionalism and a lack of accountability.
The issue is not just about delayed transfers or logbooks but also about the breach of trust that occurs when promises are broken.
Motor Consult’s failure to act responsibly has sparked wider concerns about the credibility of such dealerships.
How many other buyers might be facing similar challenges?
How many more could fall victim if such practices continue unchecked?
These questions pose the urgent need for stric regulations in the car dealership industry to protect consumers from such fraudulent behavior.
While businesses like Motor Consult may promise convenience, their actions show the importance of vigilance when making high-value purchases.
