Fraud and broken promises: Khalif Kairo exposed as victims lose millions in sour car deals

A shocking incident has left a car buyer reeling after their vehicle was repossessed from their workplace, following a sour deal with Nairobi-based car dealer Khalif Kairo.

Known for his flashy lifestyle and luxury car business, Kairo has recently come under fire for multiple allegations of fraud.

More buyers are now coming forward with claims of being duped by the controversial dealer.

One victim, who purchased a 2014 Volvo V40 on October 19, 2024, thought they were getting a good deal.

Kairo’s dealership assured them of a smooth transfer of ownership. However, what seemed like a straightforward transaction quickly turned into a nightmare.

After completing the purchase, the buyer discovered that the car was tied to an unpaid debt, something that was never disclosed during the sale.

Despite repeated assurances from Kairo’s team that the debt issue would be resolved, no action was taken.

On December 18, the situation escalated dramatically when auctioneers showed up at the buyer’s workplace and repossessed the car, leaving colleagues and onlookers stunned.

Attempts to get clarity from Kairo led to vague promises that the problem would be fixed by December 20.

However, Kairo soon disappeared from communication, leaving the buyer without answers or their car.

This incident adds to the mounting legal troubles for Kairo, who was already arrested earlier in December 2024.

On December 3, police detained him at Kasarani Police Station after another client accused him of taking millions for high-end cars that were never delivered.

Justus Ombati, Kasarani Sub-County’s criminal investigations officer, confirmed that additional complaints were filed, prompting the police to open a case against Kairo.

Kairo, a self-styled social media personality known for flaunting his wealth, has responded to these allegations with defiance.

In a social media post, he brushed off the accusations, claiming such challenges are part of every entrepreneur’s journey.

“Every big entrepreneur must face litigation or money problems, especially when God is taking you to higher levels,” he wrote.

For the affected buyer and others who have faced similar ordeals, Kairo’s words bring little comfort. They continue to seek justice and resolution to reclaim what they believe is rightfully theirs.

Meanwhile, authorities press on with their investigations, as more victims step forward with claims against the embattled dealer.
